Hold on – now blue and gold medals – Aftonbladet

Zurich. Half Championship has gone.

And it has been a miserable championship for Sweden after the first half.

But now it’s time for the other.

And for the medals to rage out.

Already Today, Sweden’s first medal since it’s finals at 1500 meters with Abeba Aregawi at the starting line.

I will not guarantee a medal, but just severe stomach flu, broken bones, or a nasty case he prevent Aregawi from to win a medal.

the European Championship or a European Championship silver

It’s the Dutch and world number one Sifan Hassan which partly determines it. Breakout star Hassan who came to the Netherlands at age 15 to escape from Aregawis Ethiopia ..

Sunday a svenskdag

And tomorrow Saturday it is time for Meraf Bahta. Europe runner-up at 5000 meters and with the same Hassan in front of them in the statistics.

It is not as secure a medal, but the paper will Meraf run on gold if she is in normal form.

And so Swedish day Sunday. Then the length of the finals for men, height finale for ladies final at 3000 barrier with Charlotta Fougberg.

No one has qualified as I write this, but I assume that both Michel Tornéus, Emma Green and Fougberg will be fighting for medals.

Aregawi’s favorite

Charlotta Fougberg is favorite at 3000 bar, one in Europe for years and has had an amazing breakthrough season.

Yet, I see Aregawi as the biggest medal favorite.

There will be a medal if not all misery in the world affects her at the same time. She was accustomed to the situation, she knows the rules and she has what it takes.

Fougberg and Bahta is a bit bigger question mark.

There has never been involved in these contexts, never run in a major championship. Can they handle the pressure? Keeps nerves? There is a certain element of uncertainty that can cause problems.

And both Michel Tornéus and Emma Green has had seasons that does not make them any big favorites.

Tornéus have had to fight to even get over eight meters and Emma have only had time to do two races in the summer.

Yet, I think both can win a medal, and Emma has really been the perfect starting position when the world’s two best height girls had been coerced decline due to injury.

World number one Anna Tjitjerova (2.01) is not even here and Blanka Vlasic (2.00) rubbed as late as Thursday.

So the question is not really about Sweden takes a few medals in the European Championships – but how many.

How bad they looked.

But Swedish Association of Athletics Federations have to sit down and examine themselves. They sent 60 active here for the World Cup. Everyone who went to submit.

Angelica soon over 4.60

Now, almost half competed and we’ve seen a single personal record (Lovisa Lindh at 800 meters) and a seasonal best ( Irene Ekelund at 200 meters).

The rest has underperformed and it almost hurt to see so many Swedes who have not had to do here.

Angelica Bengtsson took Sweden’s best result to date with fifth place in the pole vault.

She’s back.

It’s the best location in a senior championship and she has shown that she will soon jump from 4.60 to 4.70.

It’s incredibly fun. It has stood still for a long time now.

Yesterday was careless she almost away a better position when she did not agree with his coach about was the score would stand when she jumped.

There, she must learn to decide for yourself.
