Swedish golf gold in the Youth Olympic Games – Aftonbladet

It took two särspelshål.

But in the end – after a huge drama – they stood there like Olympic champions.

Marcus Kinhult and Linnea Power ‘m home a Swedish gold at the Youth Olympic Games.

– Especially fun to win in a team competition, it is much larger, says Marcus Kinhult.

It was a very dramatic game of golf during the day’s events in Nanjing, where it eventually took two särspelshål for the outcome.

Kinhult, 18, and Power, 17, was the day’s play two stroke behind leader Denmark. And it did not look promising when power ended in the green bunker and made a dubbelboggey.

But the Swedes played up and both Kinhult and Power finally went around the course in 70 strokes, two under par.

Dramatic ending

When even South Korea came in at 70 beats, it was clear that the race would be decided by a playoff.

It took two holes but finally Sweden could salvage the gold.

– It is so much fun. I started not perfect, with a double bogey, but in a way I think it was good because otherwise I probably would not make as many birdies. Now, I felt compelled to take it back, says Linnea Power in a press release.

Eighth Medal

The gold is Sweden’s eighth medal in the Youth Olympic Games under way in Nanjing, China.

Marcus Kinhult is his second medal of the championship. 18-year-old also took silver in the individual golf tournament.
