The season may be over for Aregawi – Aftonbladet

Listed for Swedish super duel at the DN Galan 1500 meters.

But neither Meraf Batha or Abeba Aregawi interfered in tätstriden.

The highlight of the DN Galan had been painted as a fight between EM’s fresh gold and silver medalists Sifan Hassan, Meraf Bahta and Abeba Aregawi. In addition, there were strong contenders in the form of Genzebe Dibaba, Ethiopia, and the American Jennifer Simpson at the starting line.

And it just became Simpson who proved strongest in a race that began in a raging tempo.

Both Swedes got it tough when Genzebe Dibaba ran on at the first lap.

The worst was the EM medalist Abeba Aregawi, which obviously pained could not do anything in tätstriden.

The American Jennifer Simpson stood for a powerful spurt and won at 4.00,38 before Genzebe Diababa who was second after.
